Computer Science Unplugged – CS Unplugged is a collection of free learning activities that teach Computer Science through engaging games and puzzles. The activities introduce students to Computational Thinking through concepts such as binary numbers, algorithms and data compression, separated from the distractions and technical details of having to use computers. Importantly, no programming is required to engage with these ideas! CS Unplugged is suitable for people of all ages, from elementary school to seniors.

Code Combat – Code Combat is a platform for students to learn programming all while playing a game with their classmates. We believe in encouraging real, typed code to support healthy learning curve with programming.

CodeCombat’s Courses consist of levels that have been specifically playtested to work best in a classroom setting, designed to be used by teachers with no prior coding experience necessary. Current Courses are available in JavaScript and Python, with solution guides provided for both.

Code.org – Launched in 2013, Code.org® is a non-profit dedicated to expanding participation in computer science by making it available in more schools, and increasing participation by women and underrepresented students of color. Our vision is that every student in every school should have the opportunity to learn computer science. We believe computer science and computer programming should be part of the core curriculum in education, alongside other science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) courses, such as biology, physics, chemistry and algebra.

    The activities introduce students to Computational Thinking through concepts such as binary numbers, algorithms and data compression, separated from the distractions and technical details of having to use computers. Importantly, no programming is required to engage with these ideas!

    CS Unplugged is suitable for people of all ages, from elementary school to seniors, and from many countries and backgrounds. Unplugged has been used around the world for over twenty years, in classrooms, science centers, homes, and even for holiday events in a park!
